Crane Accidents
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) estimates that eighty nine (89) individuals die yearly in crane related accidents nationwide while many more suffer serious bodily injuries. While there are several causes of crane accidents, according the OSHA, the main causes are:
- Electrocution
- Crane Assembly/Disassembly
- Boom Buckling/Overturn
- Rigging Failure
- Overloading
- Struck by moving load
- Working within swing radius of counterweight,
- Two-blocking
- Hoist limitations.
